Housework in your 50s is no joke

Since turning 50, my energy levels have steadily declined — but the laundry pile hasn't got the memo. When I was working part-time, I had to finish all the washing and hang it out before leaving for work. It was exhausting. Even after leaving my job, managing laundry for five people takes real effort.

How we met

In October 2023, we bought a new washing machine: the Panasonic NA-LX125BL drum washer-dryer. With my mother moving in three and a half years ago, laundry had grown from four people's worth to five — and our old 9 kg machine was twelve years old and struggling.
